So if we are no longer allowed to lock our checked baggage--So that the airport workers and the TSA(Totally Socialist Assholes) can ransack our bags. How do you travel with 25,000 dollars in camera gear?? Suggestions??

Last time I flew they made me check my camera. I am not willing to take the insurance hit.

    Thanks

Nigel, what are socialists in your country? Over here in England, the term describes about half of the population, including our government. I suspect that it has "communist" connotations in USA. Is that right? Socialists are lefty's, meaning they occupy the left hand side of the House of Commons in the English parliament.

I am a socialist, and for me that means approving of higher taxes for use on public services, such as a decent health service and education for everybody, rich or poor.

Oh my god, I'm beginning to sound like Mr Moral Dilemma - Nigel, I don't really care and I'm not offended, I'm just interested in the US definition and attitude to socialism as compared with that of the English.

Did you buy an Aaton A-minima? I love those cameras. Never seen one in the flesh, but they look like the best Super16 camera ever made by my reckonning - really sexy cam.

There are no solutions I can think of to your problem other than - drive?

Quite amusing that you say "most" Americans are socialists/ democrats. So why in that great democracy of yours aren't they in power?

    Hmmm...?

Anyway, all off to war soon, dum de dum...No nukes or anything, but that Saddam's definately got some oil hidden somewhere...

    Yours scepticaly

It's nice to see that filmmakers have other interest!

Let's not knock one political thread. The growing problem in America is that both political parties are controlled by the funding from the Global Corporations. We are getting the best candidates that the GLOBAL CORPORATIONS can buy.

Along time ago the government stopped doing the while of the people and only considering the global elites.

Two political parties? Not really both give the corps everything they want. The political debates put fourth by our two great parties are things we can agree to disagree on. Usually areas that do not affect the Global Elites at all!

DIVIDE AND CONQUER.... seems to be the plan, to keep both the left and the right from finding any mutual benefits that I feel we could find. Like keeping more jobs in this country. We have drifted away from the America where the kids can inherit a better life than there parents to one of diminishing returns.

In the 1950 early 1960's the CEO's of major corporations made about 50 times over the average workers pay level. 350% to 550% per cent more.!!! With big bonuses...stock options and golden parachutes. The only growth is in the service industry filled with lower wages and part time job without beniffits.

Corporations will cry it's the GLOBAL ECONOMY is what is driving the economy, but fail to mention that they have created the playing field and all the rules. i.e. shipping out American jobs to third world countries in wholesale. Lowering the standard of living. Creating the instability in the work place, where unions can't prosper.
Destabilized the work force, creating the paradigm shift, were workers can no longer stay on any job long enough to be vested in retirement. What retirement!

It's corporations that have asked for and got everything thing they want under both Democrats and Republicans....FROM NAFTA to GATT, WTO...and the deregulation of the broadcast industry. I'm not against Capitalism, at least the way it was not in the past when labor and capitol had more of an even playing field. What scares me about terrorism. Is the dictatorial control the government is moving into. If we look at other countries, we see that Capitalism can work under dictatorships. In America, as things keep worse for the workers, the government is in a stronger position to deal with any opposition.

Welcome to the "NEW WORLD ORDER!"

Yeah, most Americans are socialists but if you tried to tell them that you'd probably get beaten up, or at the very least totally ignored.

And what the Republicans lack in socialist agenda they make up for in fascist police-statism.

It's my theory that the rest of the world is becoming freer while the U.S. is becoming less free. And once the U.S. loses freedom, what else have we got? The U.S. is becoming obsolete (the money can't last forever). Remember I said that.

Socialist real nice about public service as well as health but america? Also I can get provide deaf club but we, deaf american have to collect donate or somehow fundrising to have a deaf club while in europe's government provide deaf club at once for different purpose to education and socialize then in america's deaf club, they just social and drunk! with no education involvement but only school or an agency. USA is freedom because you can move to any states while french can not move to germany or Europe Union unless marry. there are pro and con about socialist and deomcracy. the airline is only a place is a communism thinks because of terrorism. ought yourself to make a proposal for special filmmaker and videomaker to have a license that can have special access to go through the security system faster however i am favor to open equipnment however for our safe. brainstorm? Just a few details.

In Europe the "socialists" as descirbed here are generally known as "Social Democrats".

"Socialists" in Europe are generally closer connected to the original "manuscript " of Karl Marx , i.e communists.

Inside the EU system with its soon 400? mill people there are free flow of almost every thing so anybody can move to any country they like to settle.

The Nordic/Scandinavian countries has been totally open within each other regarding people moving around and swithing jobs etc since the 50?s if I remember correctly.

Freeeeeedom!! like you never (possibly) are going to see it anywhere else in the world. That is what it is.

But it certainly isn?t all green her either despite all said and written; http://www.fredriknorman.com/norway.php

    Dear Jerome,

In fact, French people can move to Germany by just flashing their passports to uninterested customs officials. Once there they can buy property and/ or live for the rest of their lives just like a German. The same applies for all EU citizens. I can live anywhere I want in Europe, except for Switzerland, and have the same rights there as the natives. Cool huh?

The United Nations of Europe is here!
